Every year, people drive off the cliff at Colorado National Monument. Last week, a man who drove off failed to die. Instead, he used his cell phone to call 911 for help, and the Park Service expended money they didn’t have in a rescue.
In discussing this dramatic event, my colleagues said things like “Why would you ever kill yourself?” and “That’s the most selfish thing you can do.” Obviously they don’t understand what suicidal pain is like.
Recently, it was reported that the man who attempted suicide was arrested for pedophilia. I’m curious what my colleagues will say today. In fact, I think I’ll go ask one.
